Meet our fleet!

ARFFs refer to Aircraft Rescue & Fire Fighting vehicles, previously called Crash, Fire, Rescue (CFR).  They are capable of responding to a downed aircraft incident on any terrain, any weather, anywhere.  Their primary mission is to suppress the fuel enriched fires around the aircraft and extricate the pilot (or aircrew) from the cockpit, as well as passengers.  They typically carry a crew of three.  We support nearly 300 F/A-18 Hornets and Super-Hornets, other military, and a variety of civilian aircraft.  Our ARFFs are fully staffed during flight operation hours and respond to most any emergency within 1-minute.

Structural vehicles refer to their primary mission for structural firefighting.  While not as glamorous as ARFF, the engine crews respond to quite a litany or responses, and more of them.  From reported fires, smoke in the building, smell of gas in the home, to medical emergencies, to rescues on the highway and roads, to hazardous materials, to wildland fires, to well...anything you can imagine.  There are nearly 1700 housing units, 30+ barracks type dormitories, two elementary schools, two hospital facilities, office facilities, a child development center, and many other places on base that depend upon our prompt response to their emergency needs.

Support vehicles are those vehicles we need but don't staff.  For instance, the Hazardous Materials Unit (HM-316) and Med-1 are cross-staffed with someone from Eng-1 as needed.  Fire Prevention utilizes several GSA pick-ups to transverse the base to conduct business.

Command vehicles comprise the smallest numbers of the fleet, mainly because we only have two!

Vehicle Call Signs are derived from the type of vehicle it is and usually the station assigned.  In some cases, the call sign was assigned long ago when we were attached to Air Ops.  These were numerical based on the Fire Division being the 300 group (Fuels-200, Hospital-600, PW-800, etc).

Pictures shown on our website are a compilation from various sources.  Most are provided my the membership using either their own camera or the Union Locals.  No one has been compensated for their pictures, nor has this organization monetarily benefited.
