First & Foremost...This fire department is a participating member of the California Fire Fighter Joint Apprenticeship Committee.

We practice an ethos, "Use the experience of one generation to train the next."  Training is a never-ending process, and our new recruits deserve the same or better opportunities than the us.  And firefighting as well as the mission of our fire department has changed multifold over the years.  Everyone must keep up to stay safe and go home the next day.

We were honored to have been a highlighted department on their website in 2008. http://www.cffjac.org/go/jac/about-jac/department-in-the-spotlight/lemoore-federal-fire-department/

Today's Training Headlines

New Bunch of Haz-Mat Technicians!

April 2009

There is a new breed of employees coming up the ranks.  These folks wanna be HM-Techs!

Captain Disson and FF Campbell from NWS China Lake were invited to come and teach the DOD HM-Tech course on site.  It is a challenging and grueling three week course that introduces students to more than the Operations level ever did.  From suits to patch kits, the students earned their certificates...and bragging rights!

 *Pictures to come soon!

"Probie Training, Sir"

And these two just completed the SCBA obstacle course.  FF Hernandez (left) and FF Black (right) were tasked with continuing the course for as long as they had air in their cylinders.  The objective is for each firefighter to gauge their abilities and dexterities while wearing the SCBA.

There is an inherent need to train probationary firefighters up to an acceptable standard in order to be a viable team member.  This is one such exercise in which both probationary firefighters were sent into a structure to find a trapped victim.  FF Braz & FF White crawled nearly 150 feet to reach the victim, and returned the same path to a 'safe' environment.  In this evolution, FF White was given the lead. The objective was to find he victim...but also to work together as a team.  Mission accomplished.  FF Braz learned how White worked, and White learned how physically demanding this career field can be!

The little fella wants to be a fireman...and his son might too!

Pictures shown on our website are a compilation from various sources.  Most are provided my the membership using either their own camera or the Union Locals.  No one has been compensated for their pictures, nor has this organization monetarily benefited.
