It seems that drawings can be off by mere inches, and size does matter. During the course of accessing the the damage, the contract discovered fuel had leaked out into the containment (outer tank) as well. So an operation has begun to effect repairs. While the job is usually benign, the decision was made to provide on-site emergency services, which will include confined space rescue.
April 2009 NAS Lemoore Firefighters Earn CNIC Life Saving Award Back in June 2008, the crews from Fire Station 2 responded to a medical emergency involving a child. April 2009 NAS Lemoore Pool Service! The Federal fire Department - NAS Lemoore preformed a community assistance project by pumping both community swimming pools out. Yeah, that's right...pumped them almost dry! Why? These pools are circa early sixties and sis not comply with today's safety standards. So in order to make them compliant, we drained their pools. The operations were simple. First, the reserve engine was placed near the pool and the Assistant Chief yelled, "Shazaam!" And when that didn't work, we drafted the nearly 100 thousand gallons from each pool into waiting vehicles which shuttled the water out onto the cross-country track into areas used for the USMC "Mud Run" (see http://www.marinemudrunlemoore.com/ for more information). We used the KME Engine-3 to draft from the pools into our new Oshkosh T-3000 ARFF (red), the reserve Amertek ARFF (yellow), and the water tender owned by Public Works Transportation (thank you Lisa!).
Recent Media Coverage of Federal Fire Fighters - NAS Lemoore and the IAFF has not occurred yet. However, rest assured there will be more to follow in the near future. |
