Welcome to International Association of Fire Fighters, Local F-102.  We are the voice, body, and soul of the Federal Fire Fighters of Naval Air Station Lemoore located in the central valley south of Fresno, California.

The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) is a brotherhood of fire fighters from across the nation, and the world.  The IAFF is broken into 16 distinct Districts, each under the leadership of a District Vice President.  The 16th District contains all federal fire fighter bargaining units worldwide.  These include military and DoD installations as well as  wildland fire fighters.

Log on to www.iaff16.org for the latest 16th District information.

Our IAFF affiliation began on the 6th of May 1964.   The bargaining unit is comprised of professional career fire fighters, engineers, captains, and prevention inspectors.  We are employed by the Department of Defense/Navy functioning under the Navy Region Southwest, which encompasses all naval installations in California and Nevada.

In October 2004, we signed on as a participating department in the California Fire Fighter Joint Apprenticeship Committee (CFFJAC).  The conference in Palm Springs also celebrated 25 years of dedication to California firefighters by the CFFJAC.  Three years later, the membership voted to become members of the California Professional Firefighters (CPF).   We will beginning a new era as part of the 5th District (Federal Firefighters).  This local's partnership with CPF & CFFJAC should prove very beneficial to our members.

This fire department responds to aircraft, structural, haz-mat, rescue, medical, and various other emergencies.  We are trained in wildland fire fighting and confined space rescue.  Housed in two geographically separated fire stations, fire fighters can respond most anywhere on the base within five minutes or less.

A recent initiative has begun to expand our hazardous materials response capabilities.  We are one of four navy installations within the CNSWR designated with a "regional" response team.  Another project is to improve our mutual aid capabilities to the surrounding communities, which may include a joint haz-mat response, urban search and rescue, and possibly technical/specialized rescue teams.

Our fire prevention staff inspects over 2 million square feet of facilities, nearly 1700 base housing units, and 1500 fire extinguishers.  They also educate base personnel and the public in fire and life safety matters.  Check them out in the Photo Gallery.
